Janette Lorene (Steeves) Oke
Janette Lorene Steeves is an accomplished writer of historical novels and wife of the man who established Rocky Mountain Bible College. Her books have included: Love Comes Softly (along with eight other books in the series of the same name), I Wonder...Did Jesus Have a Pet Lamb, The Canadian West, Seasons of the Heart, Women of the West, and The Song of Acadia.

Janette has received many awards for her writing, including the Gold Medallion Award, The Christy Award of Excellence, the 1992 President's Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association, and the Life Impact Award from the Christian Booksellers Association International.

The farmhouse where Janette grew up is now operated as a historical site called "Steeves' Pumphouse Tea and Crafts," located near Hoadley, Alberta.
